Math
  • Addition of numbers to 20
  • Addition games
  • Immediate recall of addition facts to 5 using a variety of strategies, including mental math
  • Addition problem solving
Social Studies
  • Students will  demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of what makes their communities thrive by exploring inquiry questions based on community, cooperation, decision making and responsibility. The focus will be on good citizenship.  Students will connect how good decision making skills aid to happy communities. Students will explore the important areas of their community on a map and create a map mural working cooperative as a class.
Science
  • Students will research a animal and provide information about their animal, including its habitat. Students will create a model of their animal's habitat to demonstrate how the basic needs of this animal are met through their environment.
Language Arts
  • Non-Fiction Writing: Students will learn about the purpose of expository writing (to inform) and explore many non-fiction books and online resources.  They will choose an animal and they will learn to determine which is the most important information to use, rather than using all the information.  Students will organize their information to create an expository mini book about their animal.
